About this Event
Step into an atmospheric evening of music that traces the delicate hues and evocative textures of Impressionism, journeying from Ukraine to France. This special concert celebrates the 150th anniversary of composer Théodore Akimenko (Fedir Yakymenko), whose refined and expressive voice bridges Eastern European lyricism with the shimmering palette of French musical impressionism.
The internationally acclaimed pianist Violina Petrychenko (Ukraine/Germany), renowned for her artistry and deep connection to Ukrainian repertoire, leads an intimate programme alongside guest performers: Dmitry Petrichenko (piano) and Eveline Bejan-Paques (flute). Together, they present a rich tapestry of sound featuring solo piano works, four-hand piano repertoire and chamber music for flute with piano accompaniment.
The programme highlights Akimenko’s four-hand piano pieces and poetic miniatures, including Cantabile, Op. 31 No. 1 and Air lointain, alongside the elegance and charm of Cécile Chaminade’s Concertino for Flute, Op. 107. A touch of French impressionism is further illuminated through works by Debussy, completing this cross-cultural dialogue of colour, atmosphere, and emotion.
From intimate piano textures to the expressive character of voice and flute, this concert invites listeners into a world of nuance, nostalgia, and refined beauty—where sound becomes colour, and music paints its own impression.
Join us for an evening of lesser-known repertoire, artistic discovery, and luminous musical storytelling.
Free admission with retiring collection.
