Colorado Day: 150-250 Flag Ceremony

Join Colorado Mesa University for a special Colorado Day celebration, and the West Slope's official America 250 - Colorado 150 event.
Across the state, communities are honoring our shared history and culture as Colorado and America celebrate our sesquisemiquincentennial—the simultaneous celebration of Colorado's 150th anniversary of statehood and our nation's 250th birthday.
𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲
In honor of Colorado's 150th birthday, CMU will bring together servicemen and women, first responders, veterans and their families to unveil a 150-foot-tall flagpole. This flagpole, generously donated by Cody Davis and the Davis Family, will proudly wave a 40'x80' American flag and a 34.552'x54.295' Colorado flag. The Colorado flag is exactly 1,876 square feet in honor of Colorado's founding year.
The two flags symbolize 150 years of freedom in our state while serving as a beacon of hope for everyone in our community.
This event is made possible by our partnership with Timberline Bank.
𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬
📅 Saturday, Aug 1
⏰ 10 am - The celebration will begin with Central High School JROTC and a ceremony honoring local veterans.
🎷 Live music will be performed by the military band, the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) Band and the patriotic band, Sentimental Journey. The 4th Infantry Division Band is an official U.S. Army musical unit based at Fort Carson, Colorado.
🌭 VanWinkle Ranch hot dogs will be served in the plaza following the ceremony.
