Join the Dayton Society of Artists for an evening of printmaking with artist Maria Ann McGinnis.
In this free public demonstration, Maria will share the process of creating color woodblock prints, discussing the techniques of carving, inking, and printing layered images. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a simple hands-on printing activity and engage in a Q&A with the artist following the demonstration.
Maria Ann McGinnis is a painter, printmaker, longtime art educator, and member of the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative. Her work spans painting, watercolor, and printmaking, and she has spent more than 30 years exploring a wide range of artistic subjects and techniques.
Visitors are also encouraged to view Iron Portraits, McGinnis's solo exhibition on view in the Project Space at the Dayton Society of Artists. This vibrant body of work explores themes of resilience, transformation, and renewal through expressive paintings inspired by automotive engines.
