How are colors created and what can they signal about religion, life, and artistic innovation?
Begin the afternoon with a deeper understanding into the science of color with Dr. Narayan Khandekar, Curator at Harvard Art Museum and Senior Conservation Scientist. Dr. Khandekar details the surprising origins of color through rare examples from Harvard’s famed Forbes Pigment Collection.
Following the talk, local artists and community leaders invite you to experience color in action through a variety of drop-in demonstration and discussion sessions in the museum’s galleries, studio classrooms, and library.
This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition, Painted Worlds: Color and Culture in Mesoamerican Art. Tickets include free admission to the exhibition.
