Discover Pennsylvania's role in nature-based wellness in the 1700s as you explore the colonial healing ingredients still found at Kings Gap.
About this Event

Join certified forest therapy guide, Sue Schiemer, to explore Pennsylvania’s role in nature-based wellness in the 1700s. Learn how local healers, called “granny witches,” used knowledge of native plants and other natural materials in their remedies. This program will touch on knowledge collected from Indigenous nations and the early settlers of the Appalachian Mountains. Tap into your “granny witch” as you explore the colonial healing ingredients still found at Kings Gap.

This is a historical look at colonial wellness practices. There will be no diagnosing, treating, prescribing, or casting spells at this program.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, and to bring essentials such as water, sunglasses, sunblock, a light snack, and insect repellent.
