The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum is excited to announce our Colonial Cooking Demonstration, featuring the talented Charmin Russell on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM.This special demonstration will take place in our courtyard, located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, and will highlight 19th-century cuisine similar to the dishes once served on this property when it operated as a boarding house, renowned in its time for high-quality food. Each attendee will receive a sample of the dish prepared during the program.
Ximenez-Fatio House Museum visitors and supporters may recognize Charmin from our “I Lived Here, As Well: A Woman’s Story” productions. A native of Trinidad, she developed her love of cooking at an early age, learning at the side of her mother, who lived to be 103 years old. As the youngest of 13 children, she was immersed in a rich culinary tradition that continues to influence her cooking today. In St. Augustine, she has become an active member of the historical interpretation community and a familiar face at local cooking demonstrations, including programs at Fort Mose and the Ponce de León Landing Celebration.
Tickets are just $5 per person, and advance reservations are required.
