At our second Carnival in Cologne CS Meeting in 2006 I rather spontaneously suggested to go in the evening to the "Aqualand", a fun pool and sauna SPA ( https://aqualand.de/ubersicht-sauna/saunawelt/ ) - and to my own surprise all of the (by then) remaining 11 people said yes!
In the almost 20 years since then the numbers of people who join change - we've had years where just one person joined Hanna and Ulf and years where we were a dozen or more. But since Hanna and Ulf will go anyways (even if it were just the 2 of us) we'll do it again this time!
We'll be watching the Rose Monday Parade till about 15:30 near FRIESENPLATZ metro stop (see the " Carnival 2026 MON 16 02 DAY ROSEMONDAY PARADE" Event Page - ☞!ⒻⒾⓃⒹ ⓁⒾⓃⓀ ⒷⒺⓁⓄⓌ!☜).
After that we'll go straight to the Aqualand from there to make most use of the 37,50 € we'll have to pay for a day ticket - for if we arrive there by 16:30 at the latest then we'll have about 6 hours to spend there in which time there'll be 10-11 pouring ceremonies to attend🙂
If 37 € is too much for you then you might wanna consider joining us later and be at the Aqualand by 19:15 to get in at 19:30 sharp for the "Late rate" for 25,50 € - but then you will only have 3 1/2 hours to spend there...
The AQUALAND is in Chorweiler up in Cologne's north-west. Metro line #15 goes straight from FRIESENPLATZ up north to CHORWEILER and from there it's just 2more bus stops to Merianstraße, right next to the AQUALAND. Alternatively, one can take #12 all the way up to MERKENICH and then take a bus to Merianstraße from there (the AQUALAND is basically in the middle between CHORWEILER & MERKENICH).
You begin right there and then to get well again after 5 days of too much alcohol, lots of cigarette smoke and not really too healthy food - by sweating out all the poison😉
For the waterpark including a couple of really cool water slides you'll need swimming gear - in the sauna area, however, nudity is mandatory!
You also need a towel big enough to fit your entire body on ("no flesh on wood" - another one of the retarded rules that you'll have to obey in German saunas, true temples of "Deutsche Spießigkeit"…)!
They also have restaurants inside the sauna area as well as inside the fun bath area where they sell food at really reasonable prices!

We'll already bring all our swim and sauna stuff when we go to see the parade - I can store that at a place nearby from the location from where we'll watch the parade. All you need to bring are 1 to 2 towels really: 1 to sit on (golden rule: "No Flesh on Wood!") and perhaps another one to dry off afterwards. IF-NEED-BE I CAN PROVIDE A FEW EXTRA, TOO!!! And slippers, if you have any (not really mandatory - nobody checks!).
Also bring your swim trunks or swim suit if you wanna check out the fun bath area, too, including all the water slides!
After the sauna we should be back home sometime around midnight!

We'll leave for the Aqualand right after the parade at about 15:30 and take:
* EITHER metro line #15 all the way up to the final stop at CHORWEILER and then take the Bus #120 towards "Further Str." or #121 towards "Langel Fähre"
* OR metro line #12 all the way up to the final stop MERKENICH and then take the Bus #121 towards "Neusser Str./Gürtel" or "Dädalusring"
to arrive at MARIANSTR. bus stop and then walk the few meters to the Aqualand from there!!!
HOW TO GET TO THE AQUALAND ON YOUR OWN:
Get your own underground/tram schedule (for your date and time) from the "KVB-App" or google maps!
For destination use: Aqualand Freizeitbad, Köln

Contact us to make sure we're really there - THOUGH getting hold of one of us might be tricky and take a while. And once we're inside we'll obviously not have the phones on us at all (no real pockets when you're naked AND phones with cameras are not allowed inside the sauna area!).

If NONE of us answers his phone, then this will most probably mean, that we can't since we're indeed in the SPA🙂
If you stored your stuff at main station's automatic locker machines, then you can always pick it up at night when you go home. THAT WILL BE MOST PROBABLY AFTER MIDNIGHT - so IF YOU CANNOT use the automatic locker machines but have to use the "Gepäckcenter" counter at the Douglas perfumery instead (IF that still exists...), then also consider bringing your stuff to some other place for at that counter you can only pick it up the next morning...
