A brand-new community tradition is coming to the greater Collegedale and Ooltewah area this summer. Collegedale TimberFest will make its debut August 21–23, 2026, at The Commons, 4750 Swinyar Drive in Ooltewah, bringing together talented chainsaw artists, local artisans, food vendors, and family-friendly activities for an exciting three-day festival.
The weekend celebrates the remarkable art of chainsaw carving, where skilled craftsmen transform massive logs into beautiful sculptures before spectators' eyes. Throughout the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to watch each piece evolve from raw timber into a finished work of art.
Activities begin on Friday, August 21, as artists arrive to set up their carving areas and prepare for the competition. An optional public carving session from 4 to 7 p.m. offers an early look at the creative process.
The main festival takes place on Saturday, August 22, with live carving demonstrations from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. One of the day's featured attractions is the Quick Carve Competition from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., where artists race against the clock to create a sculpture in just one hour. These unique pieces will then be placed in a silent auction, which begins at 2 p.m. Saturday and concludes at noon on Sunday.
Visitors can also enjoy an artisan vendor market and food trucks from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., along with a Kids Corner and other activities designed to entertain the entire family.
On Sunday, August 23, carving continues from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the Judging and Awards Ceremony from 2 to 3 p.m. The completed sculptures will then be available for purchase during the festival's sculpture sale and auction, giving attendees the opportunity to take home a one-of-a-kind work of art.
The artisan vendor market, Kids Corner, and food trucks will also be back on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for all to enjoy.
More than a showcase of exceptional talent, Collegedale TimberFest is designed to bring the community together while supporting local artists, businesses, and craftsmen. Organizer, Collegedale Parks & Recreation’s Supervisor, Christina Clark says she, "Hopes the inaugural event will become a signature annual tradition that draws visitors from across the region.”

HOW TO CREATE A COLLEGEDALE RECDESK ACCOUNT
1. Visit Collegedale.RecDesk.com and click Create Account.
2. Fill in your name, phone number, and email before clicking Continue.
3. Fill out the required information and create a username and password.
HOW TO APPLY FOR EVENTS AS A VENDOR OR FOOD VENDOR
1. Visit Collegedale.RecDesk.com and click Programs. Then, on the drop-down menu, select Event Vendor Application.
2. Click on the 2026 Collegedale TimberFest and click on the green Register button.
3. Click on your name in the Member Dropdown. Select the Fee Type and click Save. The fee type will be $0.00 until your application has been reviewed for approval.
4. Next, Go To Checkout. Again, there will be no fees until your application has been reviewed for approval.
5. Fill out the program/event application including uploading any required documents (Business License, Health Department, etc.) then click the green Submit Form button.
6. Finally, read and review the waiver before clicking Accept Waiver if you wish to proceed. Your application is complete when you see the “Checkout has been successfully completed!” message. If you have an email on file, you will receive a confirmation email. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an invoice at the email address you entered during registration.
