COLLECTIVE THREADS: CRAFTING ALTERNATIVES TO HOSTILITY
Collective conversation and creation workshop
Date: 12.9.2026 / 14 - 17 hrs.
Place: Perunafestarit in Pandila, Pengerkatu 22
In recent years, we have witnessed how cruelty and horror are trivialized. Structures of impunity, institutional ecocide, the legitimization of hate speech, and precarization policies generate anxiety, fear, apathy, and hopelessness. This emotional overload directly impacts our ability to relate and mobilize—both individually and collectively. How do we feel and how do we relate in a time where uncertainty, impunity, and indignation permeate our daily lives? How can we create and sustain practices that make us aware of our exhaustion—and help us avoid reproducing apathy and hostility in our everyday interactions?
In this workshop, we will weave together active listening, embodied presence, sentipensar (feeling-thinking), and textile materialization to imagine alternatives to hostility. We draw inspiration from the concept of sentipensar1, feminist communal practices like acuerpamiento2 (embodied solidarity), and the Radical Tenderness Manifesto3 to nurture collective agency and connect in the margins of the habitual.
Come wearing comfortable clothes. Bring a piece of clothing or fabric accessory (such as a T-shirt, tote bag, or cotton cloth) to use as a base for textile intervention. Due to limited space, this workshop has a maximum of 8 participants. Register in advance to secure your spot. The workshop will be held in English language, with options of Spanish and Finnish translations. If you have any questions, please take contact: [email protected]
