Collection in Progress is an exhibition that dives into the mind and process of emerging designer-maker Patrick Adeney.
Following the development of a collection of furniture, this exhibition provides an intimate insight into process, repetition, failure, and resolution.
Follow the timeline of development to see how each resolved piece informs the next, and how the introduction of new elements challenge each piece that preceded it.
Patrick will be relocating his workbench into the space for the duration of the exhibition, creating a micro-workshop within the space. He will be working throughout the exhibition, further developing a new piece to be launched in 2025. Engage with the designer during this exhibition as he provides a behind-the-scenes look into the working life of a designer-maker.

Studio Adeney
Studio Adeney is the working practice of designer-maker Patrick Adeney. Currently based in Hobart, his work is designed to elevate the space it occupies, treading the delicate balance between form and function. Since the launch of his studio practice in 2022, Patrick has been refining his design principles through the development of a collection of pieces made available to order entirely in house, from start to finish. Studio Adeney has previously exhibited in ‘Australia’s next top designer’ in 2022, VIVID emerging designer awards in 2023, and successfully being awarded the acquisitive Clarence Prize for excellence in furniture design late last year.
