Collection Conversations - Jan Byrne & Guy Bigland
About this Event
Join in our exciting series of free art talks at Chippenham Museum, where artists from our Modern and Contemporary Art collection will talk about their work, providing insights into their inspiration and practice. This will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions, with the audience encouraged to join the conversation.
In August’s installment of our free art talk series, we will be joined by Jan Byrne and Guy Bigland.
Jan Byrne has been working with ceramics almost continuously since studying at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham. Her hand-built pieces are layered with intricate decoration and represent her thoughts, feelings, or ideas, which often mirror events personal to her or part of our collective experience.
Guy Bigland studied Fine Art at Bath College of Higher Education, returning to complete his Masters at Bath Spa University. His practice includes painting, print, books, and digital media. In 2015, he won the Sheffield International Artists’ book prize for his book Things You Have Done. His work is held in national and international public collections including the Tate, the V&A, and the British Library.
