Collage Workshops at Pulse Bar

A series of collage workshops in a chilled-out bar on Sunday evenings

Every session is different, but in each one you will learn collage tricks while working with vintage magazines and books

Be part of our Sunday collage community!

Last Sunday of every month throughout 2026 (except August)

26th July

Inspired by the new exhibition at Pulse Bar by @collag.eva, you will work with a special selection of retro magazines, deconstructing pages to create graphic, layered collages

16th August

Create two connected works of art: make a figurative collage and use the leftover scraps to create another, exploring negative space and the infinite, sustainable nature of collage

27th September

Community collage making session - we will work together to create one large, layered piece!

25th October

In this session, we will play 100-year-old Dada and Surrealist games. Learn how the two art movements used collage to express their ideas and beliefs

29th November

Missed the first one? Join us for this session and create bold, graphic collages inspired by the exhibition

All materials and equipment will be provided. Feel free to bring along any materials you'd like to include in your collages

What you will experience

• Rummage through and cut up a range of vintage/retro magazines and books from the 1970s & 80s, including special magazines the artist used in the current exhibition on display at the bar
• Learn how to use paper scraps to construct a balanced collage composition
• Discover collage making tips, tricks, and fun games to play
• Learn something new each session, from techniques to collage art history
• Enjoy food & drink before or after the event, available to purchase throughout
• Take home your own piece of recycled collage art!

About the Exhibition Artwork

Deconstructed Pages is a series of collages that dismantles and reconstructs the printed page. Using 1970s and 80s London arts magazines, fragments are torn apart and reassembled into new compositions, transforming familiar materials into alternative visual narratives.

Rooted in the aesthetics of vintage print media, the collages rework the language of advertising into layered imagery. The work draws on the pulse of city life, the power of advertising, and the spectacle of performance, while deconstructing how women are seen, read, and consumed within visual culture. By subverting text into image, the collages question what we choose to read and what we consume visually.
