About this Event

Overview

You’re invited to a Cut & Paste Workshop led by artist Julia Walck on Saturday, August 29th, to create a postcard-sized collage using provided materials inspired by the exhibition “Three-Hour Window” at Lucky Cat Gallery.

“Three-Hour Window” is a group exhibition curated by Rebekka Koontz featuring over thirty artists from across Southern California. Inclusive of painters, photographers, sculptural pieces and mixed media; the diversity of artwork echoes the sensory experience of traveling through a portal to diverse and divergent destinations experienced in SoCal from crashing waves, to meditative deserts, and expansive mountain views.

The exhibition will open Saturday, August 29th with an evening reception from 6 - 10 pm

Collage Artist Julia Walck, who will be exhibiting original work, will lead two one-hour long collage sessions during the opening from:

6:15pm – 7:16pm

7:15pm – 8:15pm

The workshop activity will be open to all attendees after 8:15 pm and self-facilitated.

For those who would like to attend the artist-led session, be sure to RSVP as there is limited availability.

What Happens in This Workshop?

Inspired by the theme of “Three-Hour Window”, participants will be creating postcard-sized collages based around those hours of time that act as a portal to distant lands in California. Imagine winding mountain roads, changing landscapes, and road trips along sun-kissed highways.

There will be a brief introduction with examples, then you get to cut and paste using provided California themed materials including magazines, postcards and more.

You’ll take home your original collage, and hopefully a reminder of your favorite SoCal memory.
