🎤 2026 4‑H Public Speaking Contest InformationWe are excited to share details about the 2026 Multi‑County 4‑H Public Speaking Contest, a wonderful opportunity for our youth to build communication skills and confidence.

Location: Sarah Bush Lincoln Lumpkin Family Education Center
Address: 1000 Health Center Dr, Mattoon, IL
Entrance: Use Entrance C on the north side of the hospital
📝 Entry Information
Entries must be submitted via www.fairentry.com by Friday, March 6, 2026.
Score sheets can be found here - they are very helpful for preparing - you can also find more information about each speech category: https://4h.extension.illinois.edu/events/state-events/illinois-4-h-public-speaking-contest
No live animals may be used in speeches.
Counties may advance up to 3 total entries to the State Contest, which will be held on April 26, 2026 at Parkland College.
Youth turning 14 on or before Sept. 1, 2025 must enroll as Advanced.

Formal Speech
Self‑written, notes allowed, no props
⏱️ 4–5 minutes (beginner), 5–6 minutes (advanced)
Illustrated Speech
Self‑written, notes allowed, visual aids required
May include 2‑D, 3‑D, or digital visual aids
⏱️ 4–5 minutes (beginner), 5–6 minutes (advanced)
Original Works
Self‑written, props/costumes allowed, individual or team
Manuscripts must be provided to the judge
⏱️ 4–6 minutes
Oral Interpretation
Published work, props/costumes allowed, individual or team
Manuscripts must be provided
