Downtown Zanesville's First Friday Art Walk will feature artist Ron Cole for the month of August. Join Ron and Erin Cole at Cole's Aircraft, located at 616 Main Street, for an evening that brings together fine art, living history, and community in the heart of downtown Zanesville.
Held monthly from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM — with many galleries and businesses remaining open later into the evening — First Friday invites visitors to explore Zanesville's vibrant arts district within the city's Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA). Enjoy live music, food, and entertainment as you stroll the historic downtown with a beverage in hand and discover the remarkable creative talent our community has to offer.
Ron Cole's career began in Los Angeles (2001–2011) as an industrial designer and model maker, where he contributed to projects for Disney, Pixar, Mattel, Boeing, and JPL — including management of the full-scale James Webb Space Telescope model and prototype design for Hot Wheels and Barbie. That extraordinary decade also led him to pioneer a distinctive artistic process that blends the expressive qualities of traditional painting with the precision and versatility of digital tools.
Driven by a lifelong passion for historic aviation, Ron founded Cole's Aircraft in 2006 with a vision to offer collectors something far beyond a traditional print. His signature "relic displays" incorporate authentic pieces of historic aircraft directly into original artwork — a concept that has resonated with collectors around the world. As Ron describes it, "People often want more than a pretty picture on the wall. I offer them that. I provide people with real history they can reach out and touch." To date, more than 54,000 signed and numbered relic displays have been sold worldwide.
After relocating to Zanesville in 2012, Ron and Erin established Gallery Luminaria before expanding to their current Main Street location. Their deep commitment to art and community has also inspired the Cole Center Zanesville (CCZ), a nonprofit initiative dedicated to transforming a historic 26,000-square-foot downtown building into an immersive, interactive destination. The CCZ will house a significant collection of aviation and transportation memorabilia, preserving Ohio's aerospace legacy through hands-on experiences guided by a "Please Touch" philosophy.
This August's First Friday is a rare opportunity to meet the artist, experience his work firsthand, and view special exhibits — including a Japanese World War II Zero Fighter aircraft — that connect fine art with the weight of real history. Admission is entirely free, and we warmly invite you to support Zanesville's thriving arts community by bringing a piece of that history home with you.
