Held in the inspiring setting of the historic Spencerville Mill & Museum, this full-day workshop introduces you to the traditional craft of creating beautiful baskets from long-leaf pine needles.

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Spencerville Mill & Museum
Cost: $70 per person (a portion of every registration supports the Spencerville Mill & Museum)

Under Linda’s expert guidance, you will:
🧺 Create your own small-to-medium coiled pine needle basket.
🌿 Experiment with a variety of natural and artistic embellishments.
📖 Learn about the history and cultural significance of pine needle basketry.
😊 Enjoy a relaxed, welcoming, and creative day in great company.
Whether you love crafting, sewing, or simply enjoy working with your hands, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn a unique traditional skill. You’ll leave with a completed basket—or enough materials to finish it at home—plus the knowledge and confidence to create many more.
✨ No previous basket-making experience is required. Beginners are welcome!
What to Bring
• A thimble (extras available)
• Small jewelry pliers (a few will be available to borrow)
• A pair of small, sharp scissors (a few will be available to borrow)
• A water bottle (the tap water on site is not suitable for drinking)
All other materials are provided.
Important Information
• Participants must be able to navigate stairs.
• Please dress for the weather. The historic mill is not temperature controlled, with no air conditioning and only limited heat, so dress accordingly.
