About this Event

Coffee Talks at 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis is a monthly conversation series that creates space for critical conversations around healing, justice, and community transformation in St. Louis.

This month's discussion, Built to Last: Mental Wellness as a Leadership Practice, centers our August Community Impact Partner, 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Leadership often requires carrying the weight of organizations, families, and communities, yet conversations around mental wellness are frequently overlooked. This session will examine how prioritizing mental health strengthens leadership, improves decision-making, and builds healthier workplaces and communities.

Through the experience and perspective of 100 Black Men of Metropolitan St. Louis, attendees will explore practical strategies for managing stress, preventing burnout, developing resilience, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health—particularly among Black men and community leaders.

Key Discussion Points

  • Why mental wellness is a critical leadership competency
  • Recognizing and preventing burnout before it impacts performance
  • Breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in Black communities
  • Building emotionally healthy organizations and teams
  • Practical habits for sustaining resilience, balance, and purpose
