About this Event

Class Warfare, Power & the Soul of Black Atlanta

Join us for a warm and engaging community conversation as we welcome Augustus Wood — scholar, author, and keen observer of Atlanta’s shifting social landscape — to The Ka’nekt Cooperative.

Augustus Wood is the author of Class Warfare in Black Atlanta: Grassroots Struggles, Power, and Repression Under Gentrification, a groundbreaking examination of how gentrification doesn’t just reshape neighborhoods, but exposes deep fault lines of class, power, and political repression within Black communities themselves.

In conversation with moderator Ann Hill Bond, Augustus will explore the real stories behind Atlanta’s transformation: who benefits, who bears the costs, and what grassroots resistance looks like when the forces of displacement wear familiar faces. This is a conversation about power and who really holds it.

Come ready to think, question, and be part of the dialogue. Good coffee, great company, and a conversation you won’t want to miss.
