A little about our speakers:

Marvin Olasky

Marvin Olasky helped to found City School in 2002 and chaired its board in 2003 and 2004. He taught at The University of Texas for 20 years and edited World magazine for 29 years. He is a Presbyterian Church in America elder and has been married to his wife, Susan, for 48 years: They have four sons (the youngest attended City School) and six grandchildren.

Olasky graduated from Yale University in 1971 and gained a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1976. He has written 30 books, including The Tragedy of American Compassion, Reforming Journalism, Moral Vision, and Pivot Points: Adventures on the Road to Christian Contentment. He currently writes for Discovery Institute, Acton Institute, Current, and Religion Unplugged.

Olasky has traveled to/reported from 78 countries and 80 major league or spring training ballparks. He developed in the 1990s the concept of Compassionate Conservatism and has been a foster parent, a PTA president, a crisis pregnancy center chairman, a cross-country bicycle rider, and—rising to the utmost of his baseball abilities—a Little League assistant coach.

Tish Harrison Warren

Tish Harrison Warren is a writer and an Anglican priest. She is the author of several books, including Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life, which won Christianity Today's 2018 Book of the Year, and Prayer in the Night: For Those Who Work, or Watch, or Weep, which won Christianity Today's 2022 Book of the Year and the 2022 ECPA Christian Book of the Year.
She formerly wrote a weekly newsletter for The New York Times, which focused on faith in public discourse and private life. She was also a columnist for Christianity Today and her articles and essays have appeared in Comment Magazine, The Point Magazine, Religious News Service and elsewhere. She is a senior fellow with The Trinity Forum.
Tish has worked in various churches and Christian non-profits for over two decades, serving as a parish priest, a campus minister, and with those affected by poverty and addiction. She now serves as Artist-in-Residence at Immanuel Anglican Church, and lives in Austin, TX, with her husband and three children.
