Cocobalé Class - Afro-Boricua Warrior ArtsPuerto Rican Cultural Center (Austin)
Starts SATURDAY - Sept 13, 2025!!
Everyone is welcome from any culture or background!
No experience in this wonderful art required!
Cocobalé (Danza de Guerra) is a rare Afro-Boricua Warrior Arts using sticks and machetes from our Bomba ancestral traditions. Created by enslaved Afro-Ricans before the 19th century, the fighting technique is accompanied by Bomba music and dance.
Other traditions taught include Calinda, Juego de Mani and Cocolembe at various levels.
Two distinct programs teach Cocobale, one for Bomba performance and another for the non-performance enjoyment of sparring.
Our classes take place at our Puerto Rican Cultural Center, 701 Tillery Street #13, Austin TX.
