Come for an evening of literary suspense and Caribbean dreams as the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation brings author Cleyvis Natera to New Rochelle to talk about her latest book, which the New York Times described as a combination of “fast-paced suspense, class distinctions and colonial history … one of those entertaining beach reads that also make you think.”
Cocktails & Conversation with Cleyvis Natera will take place on January 21st at Alvin & Friends Restaurant (14 Memorial Highway, New Rochelle) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets cost $70 and include delicious nibbles and two drinks; proceeds benefit the non-profit NRPL Foundation. Cleyvis Natera is a novelist, short story writer, essayist, and critic whose debut novel "Neruda on the Park", was a New York Times Editor’s Choice and was awarded a Silver Medal by the International Latino Book Awards for Best First Book of Fiction. Neruda on the Park was also selected by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai for her Literati Book Club! Natera studied literature and creative writing at Skidmore College and holds an M.F.A. in Fiction from New York University; she currently teaches creative writing at Barnard College of Columbia University and Montclair State University.
Cocktails & Conversation is one of the NRPL Foundation’s signature events, designed to bring book lovers together. The Cocktails & Conversation series features author discussions moderated by Prof. Amy Bass, Ph.D., NRPL Foundation Board Member, historian and acclaimed author ("One Goal: A Coach, A Team and the Game That Brought a Divided Town Together").
