The 2026 Coastal Cultures Convening will be held on Amelia Island in Florida. This convening is a regional outgrowth of the annual Coastal Cultures Conference hosted by the Gullah/Geechee Sustainability Think Tank which brings together a wide variety of diverse environmental leaders focused on ensuring not only the sustainability of the coast and our waterways but also the cultural heritage of communities such as that of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. The convening will be an interactive dialogue with coastal adaptation and sustainability professionals that support ensuring the continuation of cultural heritage as part of their environmental stewardship work.
The Gullah/Geechee Nation is engaged in a number of successful initiatives to heal, protect and sustain the southeastern coast. Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and representatives of the collaborating organizations including the host organizations the Gullah/Geechee Cultural Community Trust and the Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Committee of Northeastern, FL that are participating in these projects will present during this convening.
