Coastal Access & Resilience at Cliff Walk
About this Event
Join us for a guided walking tour of Cliff Walk looking at shoreline access and coastal resilience in this area and in Newport more generally. You'll also learn about the edible and medicinal plants we'll see along the way!
This walk will begin and end at Doris Duke's Rough Point, operated by the Newport Restoration Foundation. Participants will have some brief time at the end of the walk to tour the grounds, which were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
Please note: This walk will be approximately 1.25 miles of uneven and at times steep terrain. We will walk for a short distance on sandy beach and across potentially muddy areas, so please plan accordingly and wear sturdy shoes. You might wish to bring walking poles for added balance. Be sure to bring water. Due to the nature of this walk, we request that participants not bring dogs.
