Audition for Improvised Phineas and Ferb! Auditions are 6/27, callbacks 6/28. Shows will run from early August to early September.
About this Event

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for us! Auditions will take place on Saturday 6/27 at the Coalition Theater (8 W. Broad St.), with slots available at 12 pm and 2 pm. There will also be a callback Sunday evening 6/28 from 6-9 pm. All auditionees will be notified about callbacks by 8 pm Saturday night. All those called back will be notified whether they are cast within one week. This show will run most Fridays in August and the first weekend of September (specific dates to be announced.)

The Show Format

This will be a 45-50 minute narrative show, broken up into two 22-ish minute “episodes.” Each show will also include 2-3 musical numbers in the style of the show. See this playlist for what that looks like! The narrative will follow the basic structure of an episode of Phineas and Ferb, with storylines following the boys and Candace, their mom, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry. These storylines will all come together at the end of each episode.

Available Roles

We are looking for a cast of around 10 people, 6 to play “main characters,” and 4 to play multiple secondary and tertiary characters. The role of Candace has been pre-cast. Feel free to submit for any role as we will be looking more for *vibe* matches for each character rather than physical matches.

MAIN

Phineas Flynn: an inventive and positive 10-year-old boy

Ferb Fletcher: his equally inventive brother. He doesn’t talk much, but when he does, it’s british.

Candace Flynn: A high strung teen obsessed with two things—busting her brothers for their inventions, and her boyfriend Jeremy.

Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz: An evil scientist and inventor. Locked in an eternal battle against his nemesis, Perry the Platypus.

Special Agent Perry the Platypus: Phineas and Ferb’s pet mild-mannered platypus, and secretly a crime fighting special agent. This is a non-speaking role that will need strong physical comedy chops.

Linda Flynn-Fletcher: Mom of Phineas, Ferb, and Candace. Former one-hit wonder.

DOUBLE-CAST/SUPPORTING

Lawrence Flynn-Fletcher & Jeremy Johnson: Lawrence is Husband of Linda, and owns an antique store. British. Jeremy is boyfriend of Candace. He plays guitar.

Buford Van Stomm & Major Francis Monogram: Buford is a gruff bully type and friend of the boys. Monogram is the director of OWCA, the crime-fighting pet organization.

Baljeet Tjinder & Carl Karl: Baljeet is a nerd-type and friend of the boys. Carl is the unpaid intern for OWCA.

Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, Stacy Hirano, Vanessa Doofenschmirtz, & the Fireside Girls:

Isabella is a friend of the boys, leader of the Fireside Girls, and “secretly” in love with Phineas. Stacy is Candace’s best friend. Vanessa is Doofenschmirtz’s cool goth-ish daughter. The Fireside Girls are Isabella’s friends and troupmates.

The Audition

We are looking for people who know the show very well, have a strong grasp of narrative improv, and have some understanding of or experience with musical improv (not necessary for all parts).

We are also looking for people comfortable taking on the specific character traits and honoring the structure prescribed by the show while still finding new fun in an improvised context.

Please arrive ready to share a few characters you would be comfortable playing, as well as any characters you definitely do NOT want to be considered for.

For the audition, you will be asked to:

  • Improvise short scenes NOT in character
  • Read sides from the show for characters you are interested in (there is no need at all to have a character impression, but if you want to show us one you may!)
  • We may ask you to do some movement/dance so come prepared for that!

The Audition Panel

Preston Bradsher (she/her), Co-producer & Director

Blake Vail-Rhodes (she/they), Co-producer, playing Candace

Josh Blubaugh (he/him), Co-artistic Director
