The Coalfields Regeneration Trust Game On Home Internationals Tournament is the Trust’s flagship event which aims to raise aspirations, build confidence and unite groups of young people through football from coalfield communities across the UK.
The tournament has successfully run for the last 13 years and each year a winner is crowned The Coalfields Regeneration Trust Game On Home Internationals champion.
The event is a 5 a side competition and is made up of an U16 boy’s tournament and a U16 girl’s tournament (added in 2018) with two boy’s teams and two girl’s teams taking part from each nation (England, Scotland and Wales).
Participants are selected on the basis of geography and impact rather than just on ability. Whilst the girl’s teams qualify through grassroots football clubs based in coalfields areas, the boy’s teams qualify to play though participating in the Trusts Game On Football 5ives free turn up and play participation sessions.
