A coastal inlet featuring saltmarsh, mudflats, lagoons, reedbeds, farmland and shingle beach. Gulls, Common, Sandwich and Little Terns all nest on the Tern Island, viewable from Church Norton. We hope to see migrants arriving including waders.
Coach fare £30 (adults). Please book and pay through Malcolm (contact details available on request - or see our pinned post) preferably by 4 April although we will probably be able to accept later bookings.
The coach departs Hitchin: 7.15am. Letchworth: 7.30am. Stevenage: 7.45am.
No admission charge for the reserve
Facilities: 2 hides, several viewpoints. Visitor Centre, refreshments, toilets
Distances and accessibility: Discovery Trail is 1.75 miles long. 3 miles to Church Norton including return. Trails can be extended and linked using the Public Rights of Way.
Ferry Pool hide is 250 m from visitor centre and approached by a level, surfaced path with a ramp or steps to access hide. Church Norton Hide is up a steep bank, accessed by steps, a tidal footpath and boardwalk. Option to walk on shingle near Church Norton.
