Coach from Cambridge to the 'March for Clean Water' in London on 26/10/2024

The March for Clean Water is a national gathering of people who are concerned and outraged about the state of our rivers, streams, wetlands and seas. Cam Valley Forum, in collaboration with Water Sensitive Cambridge, has arranged a coach for anyone who cares about the River Cam and its tributaries to join the march.

With the National Rail disruptions planned for that weekend, the coach may be the easiest way to get to London. Perhaps don't set expectations too high - it's still a coach... - but we booked the biggest, most comfortable one we could find, fully air-conditioned and with a toilet. Let's go in (relative) style, and use it as an opportunity to build friendships during travel and march.

Watch out for a banner and prop-making workshop soon. Details will be sent closer to the time. Please let us know if you can offer expertise and support here or the use of space. We know there are some amazing artists in Cambridge - we've got some budget set aside for this.

Seats are offered at a subsidised rate to make them affordable. Everyone is welcome. Please share with your friends and on your networks!

Yes! However, it is a long day, so it may not be suitable for very young children. You'll be the best judge.

It's a slow walk through central London with thousands of other people who care enough about an issue to give up their day to be there, just like you. There will be samba bands, drums, witty chants and signs, and brilliant costumes and props, as well as people just walking along. It can feel really uplifting, and it can be in a regional group that travels and arrives together. The organisers have made arrangements with the authorities to close the route to traffic and make it as safe and orderly as possible. There will be talks and speeches at the end, which you can watch on big screens. If it is 'all a bit much', you can usually duck into a side street to have a breather.

You can wear anything you like, but perhaps, at minimum, wear blue or green to tie into the water theme. Dress for the weather, including comfortable footwear for walking and standing.

We've booked the largest, most comfortable coach we can find. It has 85 seats split across two levels and lots of storage for props, banners and costumes! The coach is air-conditioned, and There is a toilet. You can leave items on the coach (not valuables) for the day at your own risk, such as pillows and blankets, snacks, and water for the return journey. The journey will take 2-3 hours, depending on traffic.

The coach will pick up from Trumpington Park & Ride, on the south side of Cambridge, close to the M11.

Bike: It's an easy enough cycle ride from town or the south side.

Car: Carshare is preferable; you can park for free. Contact the organiser if you need or can offer a ride.

Bus: The ride takes 15 minutes from Downing Street in the town centre.

Food and water for the day. Flags, placards, noisemakers, smiles.

We will have a list of those who booked, but it will save time if you can show us your ticket on your phone or a print.

The coach tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. The only exception will be if all tickets have sold and we are able to sell your ticket to someone else.

The march's route has not yet been publicly shared. We will be dropped off close to the start and collected close to the finish.
