About this Event

“Energy Conservation Applications and Design Considerations”

This presentation is an overview of energy conservation applications and design considerations pertaining to the commercial sector, primarily healthcare. The discussion centers on modulating building exhaust systems as well as waste heat recovery. Key energy sinks and efficiency targets such as domestic HW, steam, ventilation, and space conditioning are reviewed through the lens of efficiency and the optimal use of energy and capital.
• Energy Conservation Applications – Health Care

  • Energy Conservation and Design Considerations – Modulating Building Ventilation
  • Energy Conservation and Design Considerations – Building Ventilation Waste Heat Recovery
  • Energy Conservation and Design Considerations – Gas Combustion Systems (DHW, Steam)
  • Industry Technology Review – Economizers, High Temperature Heat Pumps, Modulating Building Ventilation Systems

Learning Objectives:

  • provide a basic understanding of energy conservation for healthcare facilities, including key efficiency targets and energy sinks
  • provide a basic understanding of design considerations when designing modulating building ventilation systems
  • provide a basic understanding of design considerations when designing waste heat recovery systems
  • provide a basic understanding of industry technologies available for the design and implementation of modulating building ventilation and waste heat recovery systems

Presented by: John Morgan

Solution Development Engineer with Enervex focusing on decarbonization, energy conservation, and efficiency investment projects. I work with site owners, engineering consultants, and contractors to identify efficiency targets, develop design solutions for implementation, as well as energy reduction and ROI estimates. I am the RI ASHRAE chapter president working to create energy efficiency awareness at the state and national level with a primary focus on the built environment.
