HANDCRAFTING A CUP (1.5 HOURS)<h4>Sat 9 Nov 2024 | Sun 10 Nov 2024</h4><h4>11.00 am - 12.30 pm</h4>
If you're longing for a hands-on pottery experience but short on time, our 90-minute workshop is ideal for you! Immerse yourself in the art of pottery, from choosing your cup shape to the final touches. Pick your shape, handle, and making your personal design, then top it off by glazing your motifs. Select one of our coloured glazes and sip rom your handcrafted masterpiece after it's fired!
What is included:
- 3 cup shapes to choose from 3 handle shapes
- 10 colours to glaze over your motif(s)
- Option of 5 glazes for the body (one cup per person)
- Self collection in 4 weeks at Studio GDMC
What you will learn:
- How to attach a handle
- How to personalise your cup
- How to apply underglazes
- The ceramic process of firing and glazing

Craving a quick pottery fix? Our 90-minute workshop is perfect for those with limited time but a big desire to create. Enjoy the satisfaction of drinking from a cup or mug you've made yourself!
Key Highlights:
Hands-on Learning: Immerse yourself in the art of pottery and discover the joy of creating with your own hands.
Quick and Easy: Learn how to form symmetrical pottery pieces with ease, even if you're a beginner.
Guided Creation: Use our templates to guide your form, then personalize your piece with unique designs and glazes.

- 3 templates to choose from
- Make a symmetrical form complete with personalised details
- Choose one of 5 glazes for the body
- One fired and glazed vessel per person
- Self collection in 4 weeks at Studio GDMC

- How to use templates
- How to build a vessel using a slab of clay
- How to personalise your vessel and make simple decorations
- Learn about the ceramic process of firing and glazing

Workshop Leader
Pui Shan has more than 25 years of experience in the field of art education, with Master in Art and Bachelor in Education degrees. She has taught extensively in public and private schools in Singapore and Hong Kong. She began learning ceramics in her school days. In 2009, she learned hand building techniques under the instruction of Johnson Tsang, renowned Hong Kong ceramist. She likes to make simple animal replicas in clay.
THE GDMC TEACHING TEAM
Certified educators in pottery and ceramics, the trainers hold regular classes for preschoolers, those with special needs, as well as at mainstream schools.
Follow-on courses at Studio GDMC
Participants of the Workshop held at Singapore Clay Festival’s Clay Makers’ Market are eligible to continue with glazing lessons and are eligible to be a member of Studio GDMC
