En El efecto deseado, de Guillermo Alonso, seguimos a Gaspar, un joven de diecinueve años que, tras la muerte de su madre, se queda completamente solo en el mundo. Criado en un hotel decadente donde aprendió a arreglarlo todo y a pasar desapercibido, descubre pronto que sobrevivir también puede ser un arte.
Gaspar atraviesa un mundo tan absurdo como cruel. En su viaje, entre el drama y la carcajada, aprenderá que para no ser devorado a veces hay que dejar de ser presa.
Una historia picaresca contemporánea sobre crecer, resistir y encontrar el propio lugar en un mundo tan frívolo como imprevisible.

In El efecto deseado (The Desired Effect) by Guillermo Alonso, we follow Gaspar, a nineteen-year-old who, after the death of his mother, is left completely alone in the world. Raised in a run-down hotel where he learned to fix everything and go unnoticed, he soon discovers that survival can also be an art.
Gaspar navigates a world as absurd as it is cruel. On his journey, between drama and laughter, he will learn that in order not to be devoured, sometimes you have to stop being prey.
A contemporary picaresque story about growing up, resisting and finding one's place in a world as frivolous as it is unpredictable.
To get the most out of this activity, we recommend reading the book in the original language. Please note the book club takes place in Spanish (although English speakers are also welcome).
