Clown’in’Prov will inject confidence, creativity and the heighten the already unexpected magic of improv with clown techniques helping you elevate your play!!
As ancient 'prov wisdom goes: we learn the rules of improv so that we can then learn when to break them.
Let's have some good ol', rule-breaking fun!
Goals of this workshop:
- Hone your listening skills for audience reactions to inform your scenes and choices
- How to elevate physical play within your environment
- Learn skills of breaking the 4th wall, staying grounded and navigating audience interaction
- Build confidence to make bold choices and run with them!
- And more!
This workshop will include theoretical teachings and exercises.
This first iteration is $15 and open to performers with intermediate to advanced improv experience/training. Limited spots!

Melissa (she/her) is a clown, teacher, director, and multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal.
Melissa started performing improv in Toronto in 2018. She's performed in improv festivals in Toronto (Big City, Haroldfest), Ottawa (Ottawa Improv Festival 2020), Montreal (MProv 2019) and Montreal Sketchfest, Ladyfest Montreal, Winterlewd, and many other comedy performances at Comedy Bar, Bad Dog Theatre, The Assembly, Notre Dame des Quilles, Theatre Sainte-Catherine, Turbo Haüs,The Wiggle Room and more!
Most recently, Melissa was nominated for Outstanding Clown Show at the Montreal Fringe 2025, for her solo show "Shuttlecock."
She's run her previously sold-out clown classes, "Good Trouble (Level 1)" and "Big Trouble (Level 2)" and has been producing comedy shows in Montreal since 2022.
She's also taught her clown workshop "Play in the Everyday: Expanding the Art of Play through Clown" to folks in Montreal and Toronto.
Melissa has studied clown and idiot work with Ken Hall, Isaac Kessler, Kevin Krieger, John Gilkey, Amrita Dhaliwal & Gemma Soldati.
Melissa has had extensive improv training Toronto with the Second City Training Centre, Bad Dog Theatre Company,The Assembly and generally - the school of life.
