This wonderfully varied route takes a tour around some of the most historically significant Lead mining centres in the Peak District. Setting out, the route runs along the Derwent Valley Heritage Way with fine views of Riber Castle. Passing through pretty villages, an ascent is made across a grassland bridleway, where a canter may be found. Historic packhorse lanes link to Bonsall Moor, a section with expansive views, before skirting round the important Lead mining centre of Winster. The route ascends to wind through Clough Wood, a lane which becomes carpeted in bluebells in spring, which was previously home to a significant mining operation and cornish style engine house.

Worth Noting:
There is some roadwork on this route, mainly on small lanes. HGV traffic may be encountered on one short section.
Going is often stony, and there are some rocky and uneven sections.
Livestock may be present both on, and alongside the route.
Sections of the route may have some restricted height and width due to hedge overgrowth.
Group sizes are limited to 6+ guide. All riders must have their own Public Liability Insurance to cover themselves and their horses. Under 18s are welcome but on their first visit, must be accompanied on the ride by an adult rider. Places are £45 and can be booked using the 'find tickets' button.
