Closing Program for INFRAMUNDO by Miguel Novelo

Join us for the closing celebration of INFRAMUNDO by Miguel Novelo on Saturday, August 22, from 5-8pm. The evening opens with a panel from 5-6:30pm on technoshamanism featuring artist Miguel Novelo, Asian Art Museum Curator Naz Cuguoğlu, and UC Santa Cruz professor Dr. Edward A. Shanken.
The night continues with a closing performance from 6:30-7pm by Miguel Novelo and the spirit formerly known as Champoy, activating [sueños del inframundo]. Inspired by the rave experience, this is a slow, deep, immaterial process—a technoshamanic performance ritual through the embodiment of light frequency, darkness, low frequencies, and poly-rhythm. Showing the creation of vibrating matter, solid light, digital matter, and the embodiment of multidimensional identity. The performance asks: What does counter-extractive engagement with technology look like? Is there such a thing? How do we teach the machine to find purpose in obliterating itself?
The performance will be followed by a reception from 7-8pm.
