About this Event

The Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice and the Housing and Urban Policy Group (HUPG) at the Goldman School of Public Policy invites you to a screening of the award-winning documentary, Close to Home.

Join us at UC Berkeley Law for a powerful screening of Close to Home, an award-winning documentary produced by Patrisse Cullors and filmmaker Whitney Gauge. The film centers on the Youth Advocates of the LA Emissary, highlighting the lived experiences of young people navigating homelessness. Moving beyond the struggle, Close to Home challenges us to reimagine a future where housing is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right.

Following the screening, we will host a dynamic panel discussion featuring individuals who worked on the film and local experts dedicated to combating homelessness in the Bay Area. This conversation will bridge the gap between the stories on screen and the systemic challenges facing our own community, exploring how advocacy and policy can create lasting change.
