About this Event
We are all well aware that the climate is changing and that human activity is the primary factor in the acceleration of climate change over the past century.
We are facing significant impacts—from more frequent and severe weather, ocean warming, extended periods of drought and extreme temperatures, and other potentially disastrous effects of climate change - all of which impact on the the property and construction industry. The question is how we prepare for, recover from, and adapt to these impacts.
Climate change resilience in the construction industry involves a dual approach: mitigation (reducing carbon footprints) and adaptation (preparing structures for extreme weather). As extreme weather already delays UK projects by up to 21%, resilience is now a critical financial and operational necessity.
ProCon has brought together a panel of speakers to look at the over arching challenges that the property and construction industries face, with a particular focus on the issues of overheating and surface water flooding.
Our speakers are:
Mark Wakeford - Chairman, National Federation of Builders
Laura Mayhew-Manchon - Head of Sustainability, NTU
Jason Redfearn - Managing Director, Focus Consulting
Alex Bennett - Managing Director, MEC Consulting Group
As well as presentations, we encourage delegates to take part in the Q&A session at the end. There is also the opportunity to network with the speakers and fellow members after the presentations.
