About this Event
The climate is changing and we have to be prepared so we can minimise the impact. In February we looked at what the climate and coasts of the NE of Scotland will be like, which highlighted the likelyhood of extreme weather and coastal issues. In February we are going to learn more about what is being planned to prepare for change. We will have three talks as follows
Fiona Mann (Head of Emergency Planning, Reslience Civic Lead) and Barry Skinner (Emergency Planning, Resilience and Civic Officer) will tell us what Aberdeen City Council is planning.
Dr Roger Owen ( former Head of Ecology, SEPA and Chair of local Scottish Wildlife Trust) will give a talk titled "Addressing climate change and flood management through river restoration in the NE"
Dr Steve McFarland (Lead Specialist on Coastal Flooding at SEPA) will talk about beaches and coastlines of NE Scotland.
After three 15 minute talks, there will be 40 minutes of questions and answers.
