Clearing The Water: Defeating the Ross Island Harmful Algae Bloom in Ross Island Lagoon

Join us on Thursday, June 25, from 5:30–8:30 PM at Alberta Abbey for a presentation from Dr. Desirée Tullos exploring a proposed solution to the recurring harmful algae blooms in Ross Island Lagoon.
Drawing on nearly a decade of research, Dr. Tullos and the Oregon State University team will present their 30% design solution for Ross Island Lagoon. A 30% design represents the first stage of an engineering plan, providing a roadmap for evaluating feasibility, costs, permitting requirements, and expected outcomes. This work is the first science-based restoration strategy developed specifically to address recurring harmful algae blooms in the lagoon and their impacts on the Lower Willamette River.
This event is free and open to the public. We invite you join us to learn about the proposal, discuss its potential benefits and impacts, and explore next steps toward a healthier and more resilient Lower Willamette River. We anticipate strong interest and encourage attendees to reserve tickets early. Learn more and RSVP here.
