Join us for a Clean Slate Advocacy 101 & Testimony Writing Workshop on Monday, December 29th from 4:00pm-5:30pm at The HILLS Recovery Center! ✍️📃This workshop, hosted in partnership with Maine Recovery Action Project (ME-RAP), will introduce participants to LD 1911, Maine’s Clean Slate bill, which would create an automated record sealing process for certain criminal records for people who have not been convicted of other crimes after a certain amount of time.
If passed, Clean Slate would open doors to jobs, housing, education, and stability for thousands of Mainers that are currently facing barriers due to their record. This bill will be heard in the Maine State legislature this coming January.
You'll learn more about the bill, why record sealing matters, and how Maine’s legislative process allows everyday people to shape policy. Participants will also practice writing their own testimony to support Clean Slate and learn how to share their stories with lawmakers.
This is a welcoming, hands-on workshop designed for all experience levels. Come learn, connect, and make your voice heard! 📣
