With a growing number of communities across Alberta and Canada facing wildfire smoke events and chronic exposure to airborne pollutants, understanding the science behind these impacts is essential.
Clean Air in Industry: Innovations and Best Practices
Info: This session will explore how industrial operators across Alberta are evolving their practices to reduce emissions, adopt cleaner technologies, and partner with communities to improve regional air quality. Speakers will share practical examples of emissions reduction, process improvements, and collaborative efforts that go beyond compliance to demonstrate environmental leadership.
Air Quality in Alberta: Roles, Responsibilities, Solutions

KEYNOTE - From Concern to Action: Community-Driven Solutions
Info: The day will conclude with a focus on grassroots leadership and citizen engagement, with a presentation by Dr. Matt Adams (University of Toronto). Dr. Adams will discuss how air quality concerns identified by communities can lead to real research and actionable change. Drawing on participatory science and neighborhood case studies, he will highlight how community-led monitoring and collaboration can inform policy and empower local voices.
