About this Event

Cleadon Park Library, Explore Wild Plants Walk

Meeting point: Outside the Library

Keen to explore the fascinating plants growing right on your doorstep? Join James Common, Senior Naturalist at the Natural History Society of Northumbria, for a new series of urban plant walks exploring the remarkable wildflowers that thrive in everyday habitats such as pavements, walls and flowerbeds.

From scarce native species and Bronze Age introductions to exotic plants perfectly adapted to our harsh and demanding urban environment, we'll discover them all. Along the way, you'll learn tips and tricks for recognising key species, explore their history, and uncover the surprising diversity hidden within South Tyneside's urban centres.

Whether you're a keen botanist or simply curious about the wildlife around you, these walks offer a fresh perspective on the plants that make a home in our towns and cities. No prior experience is needed, and everyone is welcome.
