Beyond the Brief: Women (Re)Defining Success in a Changing Legal Profession. 💜
The Intervarsity Women in Law Conference – organised by the law societies of USYD, UNSW, and UTS, and proudly sponsored by Clayton Utz – brings together leading women from across the legal profession for an inspiring day dedicated to fostering learning, meaningful connection, and community.
Attendees will enjoy two engaging panel discussions, alongside the opportunity to visit stalls hosted by law societies and organisations during the break. This is an invaluable chance to network with professionals from a range of firms, Legal Aid, and other organisations. Delicious catering will also be provided.
This year, we are proud to partner with the Women’s Legal Centre, an organisation dedicated to improving women’s lives through specialist legal representation, support, and advocacy. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Centre – meaning that with just a small $5 donation, you can help make a tangible difference to women across NSW.*
🎙️ The Panels!
‘Pathways: There is No One Way’: This panel brings together women from both “Big Law” and alternative legal pathways to explore the realities of building a career in law and defining success on your own terms. Panellists will share their journeys—from clerkships and graduate roles in large firms to careers in-house, government, Legal Aid, and beyond.
The discussion will also cover wellbeing, work-life balance, and navigating parental responsibilities, offering practical insights into building a sustainable and fulfilling legal career.
‘Innovation and Influence: Women in Law in the Digital Age’: This panel will examine how evolving technologies are reshaping the legal profession. While digital platforms have created new opportunities for visibility, leadership, and innovation, they have also introduced challenges such as online harassment and AI-related harms.
Panellists will reflect on how they have leveraged technology to drive change, influence reform, and expand access to justice – while sharing how students and junior lawyers can stay adaptable and future-ready in a rapidly changing profession.
