About this Event
Introducing ClayDates — the first in a brand-new series of pop-up craft classes from the crafty Mama behind Birch & Bean. Relaxed, sociable sessions for parents and carers, where the process is yours and the product is theirs, all while your little one plays happily nearby.
This is your chance to carve out some proper creative time. You'll shape and make your own set of mini air-dry clay bubble letters using a range of tools — perfect as nursery decor or a keepsake for your little one. You'll also get to sand, paint and 'glaze' a pre-made vowel in class so you go home knowing exactly how to complete your own. Your freshly-made letters travel home safely boxed in their take-home kit complete with with your choice of coloured paints and glaze, to finish them once dry. While you create, your little one plays happily in a playpen right beside you — with educational toys curated by me, a former Early Years teacher, and their own taste safe playdough to squish and explore, their very own version of the craft.
Ideal for babies under one and pre-walkers, who'll be happy in the enclosed play space beside you. Toddlers and walkers are welcome too — though we'd recommend booking Craftea's play area (via their website) to keep busy little ones happily occupied.
All clay and tools are provided, with friendly hands-on guidance along the way, plus a printed step-by-step guide should you be distracted. Choose your difficulty level on the day: beginners can shape letters with easy-to-use cutters, or go freestyle and hand-roll your own, with a template to guide formation.
To keep things calm and personal, class size is limited to just 6 adults and their babies. Can't make this time? There's a second session running the same morning — see our separate listing to book.
This is an unhurried hour led by a crafty mama who gets it — if you need to stop and feed, settle or soothe your little one, that's completely fine. No craft experience needed. Just come as you are.
Our host Craftea will have lovely coffee and food available on the day.
