Each method offers the opportunity to create distinct forms that stand apart from the others. Pinch pots enable the creation of small, organic shapes, limited only by the reach of your hands. Coil building involves stacking clay ropes to construct larger, textured, or smooth structures. Slab work is comparable to architectural construction, where you cut and assemble flat clay sheets to form boxes, plates, and geometric shapes.
Classes are scheduled for Mondays on March 16, 23, 30, and April 6, 13, and 20, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. The sessions on April 6 and 13 will focus on glazing and exploring our range of glazes.
Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with clay hand-building, this course is designed to be both enjoyable and accessible. Under the expert guidance of instructors Joni Hasselbach and Cindy Hillier, you'll receive step-by-step instruction as you create several impressive projects. The course is open to adults and children aged 10 and older.
This 6-week course costs $180 per person and is non-refundable; ***however, if you register between now and 6 pm on Sunday, March 8, you will receive a $10 discount on the course fee!*** Price includes all projects, glazing, and two kiln firings. Registration closes on March 15. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks; for those aged 21 and older, creative enhancers such as wine are welcome.
