In this Art Camp, students will get an opportunity to work with 3-Dimensions. Students will have ample opportunities to work with clay as well as paper mache OR plaster, cardboard or other materials to make sculptures of animals, food and more! Sample projects include: a sculpture of an animal or creature, a planter or small vase, a mug or bowl, a tray or plate and a sculpture of a favorite food.
Clay Handbuilding techniques that will be covered include: pinch pots, slab construction and coil pots. (ONLY* older students(10 and up) will be given an opportunity to try or learn the Pottery Wheel. *This is because learning how to use the Pottery Wheel machine is challenging for even adults- requiring a certain height and a ton of upper body strength. For this reason, we reserve teaching how to use the Pottery Wheel to only our older students.
PLEASE NOTE: All Clay pieces must be left to dry in the studio and will be bisque fired and glaze fired in our studio kilns. Please check your email from our booking platform “SAWYERTOOLS or “HISAWYER” for messages that your child’s clay pieces are ready for pick up (usually within 3 weeks of the camp)
Notes
We encourage students to wear clothes they don't mind getting messy in!
