Hindustani Classical Concert with Kankana Banerjee

Kankana Banerjee is a gifted and celebrated Hindustani Classical Singer from Mumbai. Born in Kolkata, India, she has studied Hindustani music since the age of three with her mother, who was a disciple of the Late Tarapada Chakravarty of Kolkata and the late Pandit—Ratan Jhankar of Lucknow.
She was later introduced and received intensive training during her formative years from the renowned vocalist Ustad Amir Khan of Indore. Kankana has also studied with Pt—Pratap Narain of the Mewati Gharana. She performs and teaches internationally. She has won prestigious awards such as the Kala.
Saraswati Andhra Ratna has entertained the president, Mr. R. Venkatraman, and the prime minister, Indira Gandhi of India, to name a few.
About Jessie Stern
Jesse Stern has been playing music most of his life. Born in Corvallis, Oregon, he grew up learning the love of music by listening to his Dad play guitar and his Mom sing. He began his musical education during elementary school, studying classical piano, and then moved on to jazz and classical guitar studies through middle school and high school, further going on to receive a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from Portland State University.After graduating Jesse began to practice different types of yoga and found an especially deep connection with the practices of Ashtanga, Bhakti, and Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound. To further explore Nada Yoga, Jesse relocated to Marin County, California in the spring of 2014 to study classical Indian music at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, learning tabla from Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri, and vocal study independent from the college with Smt. Kankana Banerjee.
About Carol Whitney
Carol Whitney has trained in Classical Hindustani with vocal master Smt. Kankana Banerjee since 2011. Currently, she continues her studies weekly online from India. She has also trained with Gina Sala and Jai Uttal.As a Bhakta, Carol shared her voice and devotion in the Yoga Society’s temple during the Agni Hotra/ Kirtan she hosted after the ceremony from 2013 -2022. She has hosted Kirtans in the Bay Area, Sedona and Santa Cruz.,
