ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Smt. Bhavana Kudikala
Smt. Bhavana Kudikala is the founder of Aradhya Dance Academy. She received her training in Kuchipudi under the tutelage of Guru Dr. Anuradha Tadakamalla, a distinguished Kuchipudi artist and professor at the University of Hyderabad. With a performance career spanning over 35 years, she has presented solo and celebrated dance productions across India and the United States.
She further refined her art under the legendary Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam and has been dedicated to teaching and promoting Kuchipudi for over two decades. Her journey continues to evolve under the mentorship of Guru Sri Jaikishore Mosalikanti, reflecting her commitment to artistic growth and excellence.
Smt. Vilasini Subramanian
Smt. Vilasini Subramanian began learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 13 under the guidance of Guru Shri K Mohanan, Professor of Bharatanatyam at Kalakshetra, Chennai. She completed her Arangetram in Chennai at age 21. After relocating to the Seattle area, she continued her dance education for three more years with Guru Smt. Joyce Paul, founder and artistic director of Arpan Arts in Redmond, WA.
She has had the opportunity to perform both solo and with her dance school at various events, including the Mahabalipuram Dance Festival, Northwest Folklife Festival, CIPA, and the Seattle Natyakala Conference.
Appreciative of the wonderful teachers who have guided her, Vilasini is dedicated to sharing her knowledge of Bharatanatyam with her students.
She founded Vilashree Arts, a Bharatanatyam and Mridangam music and dance school based in Bothell, WA, where she serves as the Artistic Director. Her teaching approach is grounded in deep respect for the art form and a sincere desire to pass it on to the next generation. Through teaching, she continually expands her own understanding and remains connected to the tradition while supporting the growth of young dancers within the community.
Outside of her artistic pursuits, Vilasini is a mom to a 7th grader and a 4th grader and works as a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft.
Smt. Pooja Ganesh (Kathak)
Smt. Pooja Ganesh has been training in Kathak for the past 15 years under Gurus Smt. Nirupama Rajendra and Shri T.D. Rajendra in Bangalore, India. She has had the privilege of performing with Abhinava Dance Company at prestigious events such as Mysore Dasara, Bangalore International Film Festival, ZEE5 Awards, and Alvas NudiSiri, and has also been part of their esteemed productions.
After moving to the US, she continues to practice and perform under the guidance of Guru Parul Shah and Guru Smt. Nirmala Madhava (Pampa), while also collaborating with other dance companies on select projects and productions. She has presented solo recitals for various organizations across New York, Seattle, New Jersey, Boston, Bay Area, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
In 2024, Pooja was an artist in residence with the Seattle Theater Group, where she premiered her original work at the Moore Theater. Her work debuted at the YUVA Festival 2023 in Houston and was later presented at Yuva Bharati, California (Nov 2023), the New York Kathak Festival (2024), Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (2025), and the Indian Fine Arts Academy of San Diego (2025).
She collaborated with eight selected artists across the US on a full-length production that was featured and reviewed on Narthaki. She was also part of Navatman’s Mahabharata (2021), which was selected for film festivals. Recently, she toured with Abhinava Dance Company across 11 cities in the US and Canada, receiving standing ovations for their signature production. She also led the Kathak segment in a Flamenco-Kathak collaboration under the House of Kala banner and performed at the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana and the Melharmony Festival 2025.
Pooja is also a trained vocalist, having studied Carnatic music for over 20 years under Smt. Padma Srinivasan, Shri Narahari Dixit, and Para. Manjunath. She has performed full-fledged Carnatic and light music concerts at prestigious festivals in India and the US, including Ramaseva Mandali (Fort High School), Shri Ramanavami Festival, Aiyyappa Temple, Jayarama Seva Mandali, AKKA, SoCal Kannada Sangha, Ithihasa, VAH, LOTUS, and SR Fine Arts.
She holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and works full-time in the field.
Smt. Hemashree Subramaniam
Smt. Hemashree Subramaniam took her first step into the cosmic world of Bharatanatyam as a 5-year-old. Since then, under the able tutelage of Guru Sri. Ashok Kumar, Natyanjali School of Dance, Bangalore, her passion for dance has seen her progress to complete her Vidwat exam conducted by the State Education Examination Board creditably.
Hema, over the years, became an integral part of the Natyanjali ensemble and has given performances across India on numerous occasions. She was also a part of a 12-member troupe that toured London and parts of England for 45 days to create cultural awareness, sponsored by the Manitha Neyam Trust in London.
Hema achieved a milestone in mainstream dance when she performed her Arangetram in the year 2012, under the training of her Guru and continued her pursuits in dance as a performer and a teacher. Having moved to the Seattle area in 2019, Hema finds great joy in meeting similar minded artists and collaborating with them when time and weather permits!
At her day job as an attorney with Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson, Hema credits dance for enabling her to use her creative processes to problem solve issues for clients. At home, dance has also been an integral part of entertaining her 6-month-old, Tanay, and their Doberman, Archer.
