Talk about ending the year with a bang…CCW’s last show of the year featured a large number of surprises, comebacks, title changes and even an attitude adjustment or two!
The stage has been set for a huge, unprecedented match in Capital City Wrestling. After months of title switches, humiliation and sneak attacks, there will be no more excuses. Ace Dynasty will receive one more rematch against Crued Oil and this time there will be NO pinfalls, NO submissions, NO disqualifications, NO countouts because these two teams will be clashing in the FIRST-EVER CCW LADDER MATCH. The tag titles will be on the line as these two teams clash in one of the most dangerous matches of all-time. Who will climb the ladder (both proverbial and literal) to capture or retain the gold?
One of the biggest stories to come out of Christmas Clash revolved around the main event when Nick Strong defended the NBWA Heavyweight Championship against the winner of the Monster Mash Rumble, “Rugged” Rick Owens. After a hard-fought battle that featured many close calls, Owens was able to secure the win and his THIRD Heavyweight Title after one massive Stunner! Who will be Owens’ first opponent in January? Will Nick Strong be after his title? Will there be a new challenger on the horizon?
Well, there is one title match we know will NOT be occurring at Clash 41. Due to some unforeseen contract mix-up, Kerry Killem did NOT receive his River Valley Championship rematch but was given an opportunity to earn it in January if Walt Wonderful was able to defeat the new champion, “Horsepower” Hunter Sampson. That… did not happen. However, Sampson now looks forward to new challenges. Does Kerry have someone else to throw in his path? Will he eventually negotiate his way into a title rematch? One thing is for sure - Sampson WILL be in action at New Year’s Clash.
More big news as Salem Wilder’s big return was spoiled by… Vanna Black?! After claiming to be the REAL champion due to being stripped of her title due to injury in 2024, the challenge was laid down right then and there. Unfortunately because of the appearance of an actual Grinch (who was revealed to be Stormie Hale!), Vanna stole a victory and claimed BOTH titles! Not the best way to start the holidays for Salem. And we still don’t know who initially jumped Salem in the parking lot back in June!
There was a bit of an attitude change as well with Narcis Saint taking on Patrick O’Neil and instead of a show of respect, Saint decided to keep applying the Coconut Clutch despite the referee calling for the bell several times. Luckily, Matt Strong and Zatara were able to chase Saint off before further damage could be done. What has gotten into Narcis Saint? Why this sudden change of attitude that we saw the beginning of at the Monster Mash?
One man who has been making waves since October is former Grey Cup winner Dan McCullough. The Monster Mash was believed to be a one-time appearance but Dan has stuck around, competing in a 6-man tag team match (and winning) but now has some unfinished business with the Big Bad LG, Logan Green. The pompous Penthouse resident claims to have football experience but that will surely be put to the test when he goes one-on-one with the gridiron great at New Year’s Clash.
