Born in Clarksville in 1880, Clarence Cameron White became one of America's leading violinists and composers, blending lush Romantic writing with the rich traditions of Black folk music. More than eighty years after it was written, his Violin Concerto in G Minor will finally receive its world premiere performance with soloist Emily Hanna Crane. The program also features White's heartfelt composition Elegy, a deeply personal tribute to his late wife, Beatrice Patrick White. Framing this remarkable local rediscovery are two orchestral masterworks—Beethoven's dramatic Coriolan Overture and Mozart's final symphony, the monumental Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter.” Visit www.gatewaychamberorchestra.com.
