Clam shell sewing keeper– an English Paper Piecing (EPP) slow sew class
Class Fee: $45.00

Description: Discover the joys and serenity of hand
stitching while assembling this handy tool keeper
using EPP methods. I will offer clarity and several tips
and tricks while guiding you thru Sue Daley’s pattern
creating a sturdy roll-up for easy portability of your
stitching tools.
Required Supplies:
*Pattern: Sue Daley’s Clamshell Sewing Keep pattern (includes clamshell papers and acrylic template)
*Various coordinating scraps (the more variety the better) or charm packs (2-2.5” or 1-5”) or jelly roll or fat eights or fat quarters. Enough to equal roughly a half-yard total. 100% Cotton “Quilting” quality fabrics work best – NO MUSLIN. Batiks discouraged.
• White applique glue (Roxanne’s or Sue Daley)
• Three buttons, (1-1.5” diameter)
• 10” of Timtex® (or Peltex) stiffener
• One, 3” strip plus 8” x16” piece of coordinating fabric for outside (can be from the lining fabric below)
• Fat quarter of coordinating fabric for inside lining
Additional items needed for 2nd class only:
• sewing machine in good working order
• Magnetic snap closure
• 6” x 3” felted wool
• Embroidery floss and needle
Basic Sewing Kit
o Applique or Milliners needles (sharps)
o Thread (color to match applique fabrics or neutral grey or beige) (poly 80 weight preferred)
o Thread for sewing machine (~60- weight cotton)
o Needle threader
o Basting glue pen & refills
o Sharp, pointed, embroidery scissors (for use on fabric)
o Paper scissors
o Long pins such as flower-head type
o Clover clips
o Small-sized Rotary Cutter (28mm)
/Board/Ruler
o Fabric marking pen/pencil (disappearing)
o Small, sharp seam ripper
o Ball point pen/notebook or paper (Items in italics, are recommended, but not required)
o fine-tipped dry-erase marker
o Thimble or thimble-its
o Thread conditioner, such as Thread Heaven
o Sew-tites® (midi mix or lite mix)
o Revolving cutting mat
o “That Purple Thang”
o Paper hole punch
o Small or medium crochet hook
Class Cancellation/Make-Up Information: If you must cancel a class, please do so at least 7 days before the start of the class. Refunds for these cancellations will be issued in the form of a Quilt With Passion store credit. Store credit may also be issued for cancellations made within 7 days of class if the space is filled by another student. If a class is missed, make up classes may be held at a Sewing School or by arrangements with the instructor to sit in on another class. Make ups must be held within three months of the original class.
