Participants can expect an interactive training with guest instructors from SPLC and ACLU, a small-group breakout session, an introduction to AADM’s Civil Rights Complaint System, and information about how to become involved in community advocacy.
The training will help participants learn how to:
- Recognize potential civil rights violations
- Document incidents and concerns
- Understand basic court and complaint processes
- Connect residents with appropriate resources
- Support community members without providing legal advice
This training is part of AADM’s Community Defense Hub, which is building a network of trained Justice Advocateswho can help residents navigate concerns involving police, J*il, discrimination, probation, and reentry.
